Directions:
Take Highway 495/95 to Exit 11 - Pennsylvania Ave toward Upper Marlboro. From Pennsylvania Ave take the Woodyard Rd Exit off the highway and turn toward Melwood. Anise Arboretum is the first right on Melwood Road. Street parking is accessible beside the white gate.
Visiting:

There is a recommended donation of $2 per person and $5 per family.

Masks are optional and leashed pets are welcomed.

Beginning summer of 2023, visiting hours will be 10 am - 2 pm on Sundays.

Guided tours will be available at 10:45 am and 1:00 pm.

Visitors are welcome to walk the grounds on a self-guided tour and are invited to explore any of the eight challenges.

Each week one challenge will be chosen and a gift will be given to any visitor that posts selfies of their challenge answers to social media. Limit of one gift per family and each post must include:

the correct challenge for the week

the visitor with the correct plant visible in the post

and a mention of the arboretum (i.e. #Anise_Arboretum)

Explore the Grounds
The Wetlands
Low-lying area with poor drainage. Plants here can tolerate heavy soil moisture/boggy conditions or are significantly mounded when planted.
The Woodlands
Organically rich soil with moderate soil moisture. A high tree canopy provides dappled light throughout the day.
The Clearing
Open area at woodland border. Plants receive 2-6 hours of direct daylight depending on location. Organically rich soil with mild to moderate soil moisture.
